احياء اليوم الوطني للبيئة الفلسطينية في محمية جبل طمون في طوباس
The Palestinian Environmental Quality Authority, in collaboration with the Tubas Governorate, the Northern Jordan Valley, the Tubas Municipality, and the Male Secondary School, along with the Palestinian Nature Society, organized the National Palestinian Environment Day event under the slogan “Scouts and Youth: Friends of the Environment.” The event featured a special theme: “Hand in Hand to Protect and Preserve the Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr Iris.”
The event was attended by the President of the Environmental Quality Authority, Jameel Mtaiwir, the Governor of the Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Governorate, General Younes Al-Aasi, as well as representatives from various official, civil, and local institutions.
During the event, an inauguration ceremony for a mural depicting the Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr Iris was held on the wall of the Male Secondary School in the town, in the presence of members of the environmental club, the environmental parliament, schoolteachers, and its principal, Hafez Darraghma.
In his speech, Mtaiwir emphasized the importance of focusing on the protection of various plant and animal species and wild birds that represent our national identity and the depth of our existence and resilience in the face of the occupier.
Mtaiwir praised the efforts of the school’s environmental club, as well as the guides and scouts from the Tubas and Northern Jordan Valley Governorate, and the artists who contributed to creating the mural, which serves as an artistic representation of environmental awareness in the region and highlights the significance of the Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr Iris.
The developer pointed out that the school mural was created to contribute to the protection and preservation of the Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr Iris, which is considered a semi-indigenous plant in Palestine. He emphasized the slogan “Hand in Hand to Protect and Preserve Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr,” highlighting that this plant is a type of rare and globally endangered royal iris, listed on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The governor emphasized the importance of the national role played by the Environmental Quality Authority in collaboration with various institutions to enhance environmental awareness in the governorate, particularly focusing on natural reserves and wild plants, especially the Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr Iris.
The event included a visit to the Tubas Nature Reserve on Mount Tamoun in an environmental journey to raise the Palestinian flag in a symbolic military ceremony, emphasizing Palestinian sovereignty over the land of Palestine. It also included the release of eagles within the reserve.
The event concluded with a visit to the special wildflower garden dedicated to the Susneh Shafa Al-Ghawr Iris and the planting of iris seedlings within the garden to promote awareness of their importance and conservation.
It’s worth noting that the school mural and the garden were supervised by the Environmental Quality Authority and the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Palestinian Nature Society, and were funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund and BirdLife International.

وتخلل الفعالیة افتتاح جداریة لوحة زھرة سوسنة شفا الغور على جدار مدرسة ذكور مسقط
الثانویة بالبلدة، بحضور طلبة النادي البیئي والبرلمان البیئي ومدرسي المدرسة ومدیرھا حافظ

وأكد المطور، في كلمة له على أھمیة التركیز على حمایة مختلف الأصناف النباتیة والحیوانیة والطیور
.البریة التي تمثل ھویتنا الوطنیة وعمق وجودنا وصمودنا في وجه المحتل
وأثنى المطور، على جھود النادي البیئي في المدرسة وعلى مرشدات وكشافة محافظة طوباس والاغوار
الشمالیة وعلى الفنانین الذین أبدعوا في رسم الجداریة التي تشكل لوحة فنیة تعبر عن الحس البیئي في
.المنطقة وتعزیزاً للوعي البیئي بأھمیة السوسنة
وأشار المطور، بأن الجداریة المدرسیة انشئت للمساھمة في حمایة وصون سوسنة شفا الغور والتي
تعتبر من النباتات شبھ المتوطنة في فلسطین، مؤكدا على شعار (یداً بید لنحمي ونحافظ على سوسنة شفا
الغور) مبینا بأن النبتة نوعا من أنواع السوسن الملكي النادر والمھدد عالمیا بالانقراض ومدرجة على
.اللائحة الحمراء للاتحاد العالمي لصون وحمایة الطبیعة
وبدوره أكد المحافظ، على أھمیة الدور الوطني الذي تقوم به سلطة جودة البیئة مع المؤسسات المختلفة
لتعزیز الوعي البیئي في المحافظة على المحمیات الطبیعیة وعلى النباتات البریة وخاصة زھرة سوسن

وتضمنت الفعالیة التوجھ إلى محمیة جبل طمون في مسار بیئي لرفع العلم الفلسطیني في مراسم
عسكریة تأكیدا على السیادة الفلسطینیة على أرض فلسطین، ومن ثم إطلاق البومة النساریة في داخل
.المحمیة
واختتمت الفعالیة بزیارة الحدیقة البریة الخاصة بزھور سوسنة شفا الغور، وزراعة أشتال من السوسنة
.داخل الحدیقة لتعزیز الوعي بأھمیتھا والحفاظ علیھا
ویذكر بأن الجداریة المدرسیة والحدیقة جاءت بإشراف سلطة جودة البیئة ووزارة التربیة والتعلیم
