“جودة البيئة” تطلق مجموعة من غزلان الجبل الفلسطيني والطيور البرية إلى الطبيعة
The Palestinian Environmental Quality Authority, in collaboration with the Palestinian Nature Society, the National Zoo, the Environmental Police, and the Village Council of Douma, released a group of Palestinian mountain gazelles and rare predatory birds into the Fasayil Nature Reserve near the village of Douma, southeast of Nablus, after they were rehabilitated and treated.
The release operation included four Palestinian mountain gazelles and various species of birds, according to a statement by the Environmental Quality Authority on Tuesday. It is part of the authority’s efforts to protect biodiversity in Palestine, improve its components in the region, and give consideration to the natural heritage by reintroducing them into nature.
Jamil Matar, the head of the Environmental Quality Authority, stated that the State of Palestine confiscated these birds and gazelles from various areas in the West Bank. They were then placed in the National Zoo in Qalqilya and the Palestinian Nature Society for health monitoring, rehabilitation, and integration into the Palestinian natural environment.
He emphasized that this operation sends a national and cultural message that Palestine preserves its birds and wildlife, as they hold significant natural and cultural value. He also stressed Palestine’s commitment to international agreements for nature conservation, enabling the ecosystem to restore its natural balance, especially considering Palestine’s rich biodiversity.
Matar added that the choice of Douma village was not coincidental but due to its environmental and agricultural significance as an area of biodiversity, with various plant and bird species. He commended the efforts of the village council in preserving biodiversity and their resilience against Israeli occupation and settlers.
Suleiman Dawabsheh, the head of the village council, appreciated the role of the Environmental Quality Authority in protecting the Palestinian environment and biodiversity in the region. He emphasized the importance of the area as a natural site containing numerous plants, birds, and wildlife.
He mentioned that the area is threatened by Israeli land seizures and settler encroachment but affirmed the resilience and defiance of the people in the face of Israelis.
The participants in the operation emphasized that today’s event is a significant milestone in preserving biodiversity in Palestine, appreciating the role of all partners in protecting birds and wildlife.
The event included honoring several activists working to protect biodiversity in the region for their role in identifying sick birds and working to rescue them, handing them over to the Environmental Quality Authority. The Village Council of Douma, represented by its president Suleiman Dawabsheh, and the president of the Palestinian Nature Society, Anton Khaliliya, were also honored, along with the director of the Environmental Police in Nablus Governorate, Major Maysar Faraj, and the director of the National Zoo in Qalqilya, Mohammed Sharim, and activist Islam Daghlas from the Palestinian Sindiyan Group.
أطلقت سلطة جودة البيئة بالتعاون مع جمعية طبيعة فلسطين وحديقة الحيوانات الوطنية وشرطة البيئة ومجلس قروي دوما، مجموعة من غزلان الجبل الفلسطيني والطيور الجارحة النادرة في محمية فصايل الطبيعية القريبة من قرية دوما جنوب شرق نابلس بعد أن تم إعادة تأهيلها وعلاجها إلى موطنها الأصلي.
وتندرج عملية الإطلاق التي شملت إطلاق أربعة من غزلان الجبل الفلسطيني وطيور بأنواع مختلفة، وفق بيان لجودة البيئة اليوم الثلاثاء، في إطار سعي سلطة جودة البيئة في حماية مكونات التنوع الحيوي في فلسطين وتحسين مكوناته في المنطقة وإعطاء الاعتبار للموروث الطبيعي من خلال إعادتها إلى الطبيعة.
و أشار رئيس سلطة جودة البيئة جميل المطور إلى أن دولة فلسطين عملت على مصادرة هذه الطيور والغزلان من مناطق مختلفة بالضفة الغربية، وتم وضعها في حديقة الحيوانات الوطنية في مدينة قلقيلية وجمعية طبيعة فلسطين للمتابعة الصحية لإعادة تأهيلها وإدماجها في الطبيعة الفلسطينية.
وأكد أن هذه العملية تأتي كرسالة وطنية وثقافية بأننا نحافظ على طيورنا والحيوانات البرية وان فلسطين الحضن الدافئ لها، إذ تشكل لنا قيمة طبيعية وثقافية هامة، مشددا على التزام دولة فلسطين في الاتفاقيات الدولية الخاصة بحماية الطبيعة، لتمكين النظام البيئي من استعادة التوازن الطبيعي وخاصة أن دولة فلسطين غنية بالتنوع الحيوي.
وأضاف المطور إن اختيار قرية دوما لم يكن صدفة، وإنما بسبب بيئتها التي تشكل نموذجا بيئيا وزراعيا كمنطقة تنوع حيوي باحتوائها على أصناف مختلفة من النباتات والطيور، وبسبب حرص أهلها على مكونات التنوع الحيوي، مثمنا جهود المجلس القروي في سعيه للمحافظة على مكونات التنوع الحيوي وكقرية صامدة في وجه الاحتلال الإسرائيلي ومستوطنيه.
وبدوره ثمن رئيس المجلس القروي سليمان دوابشة دور سلطة جودة البيئة في حماية البيئة الفلسطينية ومكونات التنوع الحيوي بالمنطقة، مشيرا إلى أهمية المنطقة كموقع طبيعي يحتوي على العديد من النباتات والطيور والحيوانات البرية.
وأشار إلى تعرض المنطقة للتهديدات الإسرائيلية في مصادرة الأراضي وتعدي المستوطنين، مؤكدا أن أهالي المنطقة في حالة صمود وتحدٍ للإسرائيليين.
فيما أكد المشاركون في العملية أن ما حدث اليوم يشكل نقطة هامة في الحفاظ على مكونات التنوع الحيوي في فلسطين، مثمنين دور كافة الشركاء في حماية الطيور والحيوانات البرية.
وتخلل ذلك تكريم عدد من النشطاء العاملين على حماية التنوع الحيوي في المنطقة تقديرا لدورهم في رصد بعض الطيور المريضة والعمل على إنقاذها وتسليمها لسلطة جودة البيئة، بالإضافة إلى تكريم مجلس قروي دوما ممثلا برئيسه سليمان دوابشة ورئيس جمعية طبيعة فلسطين أنطون خليلية، ومدير شرطة البيئة في محافظة نابلس الرائد ميسر فراج، ومدير حديقة الحيوانات الوطنية في مدينة قلقيلية محمد شريم والناشط إسلام دغلس من مجموعة سنديان فلسطين.
