Project Overview
This project aimed to strengthen youth leadership and community engagement in environmental action across the West Bank. Implemented by Nature Palestine Society in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the initiative focused on empowering young volunteers to lead environmental and social activities that promote sustainability, inclusion, and community resilience. Through a series of practical interventions, the project combined environmental awareness, ecological restoration, and social support activities targeting children, youth, and vulnerable groups in several communities in Ramallah and Al-Bireh.

Objectives
To empower youth to take leadership roles in environmental and community initiatives while promoting environmental awareness, social inclusion, and volunteerism in local communities.
Key Activities
The project implemented a series of youth-led activities combining environmental action with community engagement. Activities included psychosocial and environmental support sessions for children through art-based environmental learning, training workshops for youth on sustainable mushroom cultivation, environmental clean-up campaigns, biodiversity awareness activities, and community rehabilitation initiatives. Youth volunteers organized environmental camps for children, participated in ecosystem restoration activities, and collaborated with local institutions to improve public spaces and community facilities.
Results and Impact
The project mobilized dozens of youth volunteers and engaged children, students, and community members in environmental awareness and hands-on sustainability activities. Environmental clean-up campaigns, tree planting, and site rehabilitation activities contributed to improving local environments and public spaces. The initiative also provided youth with practical leadership experience and strengthened their sense of environmental responsibility and community engagement.
Strategic Contribution
The project demonstrates the important role that youth-led initiatives can play in promoting environmental stewardship and community resilience. By linking environmental action with social engagement and volunteerism, the initiative contributes to strengthening civic participation and sustainability awareness among young people. It also supports the development of youth leadership in environmental action and reinforces community-based approaches to environmental protection in Palestine.
