Publications

Nature Palestine Society contributes to advancing environmental knowledge, biodiversity, Flora and Fauna conservation, and environmental policy in Palestine through scientific research, analytical studies, and public awareness publications. The organization’s publications support evidence-based environmental decision-making and contribute to regional and international research on biodiversity, climate change, environmental governance, and the relationship between environmental change and human health. Through collaborations with academic institutions, international researchers, and environmental organizations, NPS produces peer-reviewed scientific publications, policy- oriented research, and environmental awareness articles that help bridge the gap between science, policy, and community engagement.

Scientific Publications: Nature Palestine Society has contributed to several peer-reviewed scientific publications addressing biodiversity conservation, wildlife ecology, plant diversity, and environmental health in the Eastern Mediterranean region. These studies provide critical baseline data on species distribution, ecological dynamics, and conservation challenges in Palestine.

Key scientific contributions include research on:

 The geographical distribution, population size, and morphological variation of Royal Iris species in the West Bank, providing new scientific insights into endemic plant biodiversity and identifying previously undocumented populations.  The ecological status and conservation challenges of the Arabian wolf in the Middle East, highlighting the complex geopolitical and socio-cultural dimensions of large predator conservation in the region.  The ethical and scientific foundations of compassionate conservation, contributing to international debates on the relationship between biodiversity protection and animal welfare.  The links between infectious disease dynamics, environmental change, and ecosystem interactions, particularly through research on zoonotic diseases and vector ecology.

Policy and Analytical Research: NPS also produces analytical research aimed at informing environmental policy and development programming. These publications address emerging environmental challenges and provide evidence-based recommendations for policy development and institutional coordination. One notable example is the analytical study on climate change, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence in the Palestinian context. Based on survey data collected from Palestinian youth, the research identifies knowledge gaps and proposes policy recommendations to strengthen gender-responsive climate action and youth engagement in environmental governance.

Public Environmental Awareness Publications: In addition to scientific and policy publications, Nature Palestine Society actively contributes to environmental awareness through articles published in national platforms such as This week in PAlestine. These articles aim to communicate scientific knowledge to broader audiences and promote environmental stewardship within Palestinian society. Topics covered include biodiversity conservation, wildlife ecology, the ecological significance of native plant species, the environmental and cultural importance of olive landscapes, and the impacts of climate change on ecosystems and public health in Palestine.

By combining scientific research, policy analysis, and public outreach, Nature Palestine Society plays an important role in strengthening environmental knowledge and promoting evidence-based approaches to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Palestine.
